Comments after the FIA GT race at Brno
Andrea Bertolini (2): «I wanted to take the time to make the right tyre choice when the weather had stabilised. Karl used intermediates for the middle part of the race and then I mounted slicks at the end. I would like to thank Pirelli and the team for adopting a perfect strategy and all the mechanics for the work done on Friday (repairing the car) and Saturday night (changing the engine).»
Karl Wendlinger: «This result is excellent in terms of the championship. We settled on a good strategy for the pit stops and switched tyres at the right time. It would have been better starting on the front row so that we could have gone for the win but the season is a long one and we can be pleased with today».
Comments after the FIA GT qualifying at Brno
Philippe Peter (2): «Having two cars on the front row is great. We all worked hard in finding the right set up. The car is perfect. If it rains tomorrow, as the forecasts predict, I don’t think there should be a problem for me with the right set up and tyres.»
Andrea Bertolini: «First of all I’d like to thank everyone at JMB Racing and Maserati as they worked through the night to repair the car after Karl’s accident yesterday. The car today was perfect; it was as if nothing had happened. I hope it doesn’t rain as we have a good set up for the dry. It would be a shame to modify things now. We are a point down on Babini and Biagi overall and the championship is a long one. Winning here is very important.»
Michael Bartels: «This is a great result for Maserati with four cars in the top five. My team mates Babini and Biagi, who head the championship, drove superbly with 100kg on board. I won at Brno last year and hope to do so again tomorrow. In qualifying this morning I ran into traffic but I have high expectations for the race and hope that it doesn’t rain.»
