Maserati in the chasing pack in pre-qualifying

The second eighty-minute free practice session saw the quickest Maserati place fifth. Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels clocked 2:02.967, again making them the fastest of the Maserati crews.

The two championship leaders finished 1.156 down on Bernoldi/Streif, the quickest of the bunch. Despite a clash with Bernoldi, Pier Guidi/Bobbi came sixth in 2:03.260 with Müller/Ramos just behind them in seventh (2:03.260).

Maserati get off to a good start at Paul Ricard

At Paul Ricard, Bertolini/Bartels ended the first free practice session in second place.

In the eighty-minute session, the reigning champions posted a time of 2:03.700, 0.394 down on Bernoldi/Streit's Corvette Z06. Fourth quickest was the Maserati MC12 driven by Müller/Ramos (2:04.305) with the other MC12, crewed by Pier Guidi/Bobbi, sixth in 2:05.049.

Warm temperatures and under sunny skies bathed the French circuit today. The next session, pre-qualifying, is timed for this afternoon at 17.10 and will last eighty minutes.
