Lady Luck did not smile on the Maserati crews this weekend at Portimao. The win that seemed within Müller/Ramos’ grasp vanished when the safety car came on, ruining the team’s strategy. This was not the only unfortunate incident as Bertolini/Bartels punctured and lost a substantial amount of time (though the safety car’s entry put them back in the running). The MC12s crossed the line in third, fifth and sixth. This is perhaps not the best result given the potential the cars displayed, even with ballast on board. However, it is an outcome that keeps Bertolini/Bartels’s title hopes well and truly alive.
