In 2009 Maserati wrote another chapter in its sporting history when the GranTurismo MC made its debut in the European GT4 championship. It was a return to the glory days of the past when Maserati owners raced single-seaters or sports cars in events at the best circuits around. It was the era of the 'gentleman driver', the same category that competes in this series. This championship was established in 2007 by SRO, the organisers of the FIA GT, so this new series shares the track on FIA GT weekends.
There are six races on the calendar with events being held in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Portugal. Nine constructors are involved, including Porsche, Aston Martin, Corvette, Nissan and BMW. Maserati, after its encouraging start with its GranTurismo MC in 2009, is hoping to play a starring role this season.
