Maserati unfazed by variable weather

Variable weather, with sometimes violent showers followed by sunshine, made things extra hard for the teams and mechanics today at Brno. The cars took to the track for the two sessions that were run ahead of the third round of the FIA GT1 World Championship.The teams tried various set ups as the forecast for the weekend promises more of the same uneven weather.
The No.1 Maserati MC12, fielded by the Vitaphone Racing Team and driven by Bertolini/Bartels, clocked the fastest time in the first free practice, run on a dry track, and placed third in the wet session. Bernoldi/Ramos' No.2 Maserati also did well with both set ups and finished sixth and fifth, respectively, in the two sessions.
Fifth place in the wet went to Margaritis/Heger in the No.33 Maserati from the Triple H Team Hegersport; just behind it came the team's other car with Bobbi and Longin coming home ninth and then eleventh.
