Four Maseratis on the first four rows
All four cars qualified for Q3 and placed in the first four rows of the grid for this afternoon’s Qualifying Race.
The best of the Maserati MC12s was the No.2 Vitaphone Racing Team car driven by Bernoldi/Ramos that finished fourth overall. Just 16 thousandths back was the other Vitaphone Racing Team car: the No.1 crewed by Bartels/Bertolini.
A great display was also put in by the other two Maserati MC12s fielded by Triple H Team Hegersport. The No.34 with Pier Guidi and debutant Mayr-Melnhof in the driving seat, ended qualifying with an excellent seventh place after posting the best time in Q2. Behind them, in eighth, came Heger/Mueller’s No.33 Maserati MC12, from Triple H Team Hegersport, to round off a fine session for Maserati.
The Qualifying Race will take place this afternoon at 16.45 (Italian time).
Maserati MC12 in on the second row
The Bernoldi/Ramos crew will be on third in the No.2 Maserati MC12 with Bartels/Bertolini's No. 1 car on fourth. The two Maserati MC12s fielded by Triple H Team Hegersport also gain a spot: in sixth is Mayr-Melnhof/Pier Guidi's No. 34 and in seventh is the No.33 MC12 driven by Heger/Mueller.
