Sundberg, the tough Swede
This time, the Swede had to defend his position right from the start as he was hassled by Richard Meaden and Pat Blakeney. He also had a problem with his car that stopped him lapping at qualifying pace. Still, Sundberg, in his duel with the two Englishman, showed that he could defend without making the slightest mistake and all within the rules.
"I think I got off to a good start and put Pier Guidi in a little trouble by keeping him on the outside at turn one. We were very close to each other but then I suffered a problem with the back of the car that slowed me down and meant I lost a few places. In the end I managed to hold my position and finish third. This meant that I picked up valuable championship points, something I also hope to do in the second race".
