You only see endings like this in the movies. What unfolded at Mugello today was spectacular and gripping. After seven rounds and thirteen races, it went right down to the very last race, number 14, before the champion could be crowned. Today though, as well as the driver, sport, sporting competition and sporting loyalty were the winners. Maserati has always embodied these values, ones that inspired the battle between Zumerle and the Sundberg-Goldstein duo. It was healthy competition that went down to the wire.
It was an amazing battle and one free of any sniping debate. All that greeted the three main players was applause for the human and sporting effort they put in.
