"This was because I was clipped at turn one despite my trying to stay out of trouble. So, the first few laps went by with me wondering whether I had any mechanical problems. Then came the second half in which I closed in on Sundberg; to begin with I thought it was his ploy to induce me into making a mistake. I had the chance to overtake him at the first curve of the home straight but I was too hasty because I thought I still had a few minutes in hand. This is where my inexperience played a part because I didn't see the last lap signs. Instead the chequered flag came out and the race was over".
