Race 1 press conference, Trofeo category
"I started well, defended my position and found myself tucked in behind Kiss. He was uncatchable. Then Sbirrazzuoli attacked me but I didn’t hit back because my aim was to cross the line without taking too many risks”.
Nicolò Piancastelli (2nd Trofeo, 4th overall):
“It wasn’t the best of starts and I slipped a few places. Luckily, I slowly managed to come back into it, climb the field and take a category win as Vida is a guest and doesn’t collect any points. I managed to look after the tyres. I couldn’t repeat yesterday’s times and maybe I could have done a bit better. Still, I am pleased with the result”.
Sabino De Castro (3rd Trofeo, 5th overall):
“I came to Budapest without knowing the car or the track. This was a disadvantage but I was made to feel at home and the organisers really helped me. At the start of the race I tried to move towards the race wall to try to overtake near the end of the main straight. It was a hard race and the battle with Piancastelli was enjoyable. I tried to get past him a few times but made a mistake when braking too late in one of the final curves. The wheels locked and so I missed out on the chance of one last attack. It was a brilliant race and I hope to continue the duel in this afternoon’s race”.
