Race 1 press conference, Team category
Things were a bit confused at the start, probably because we were all looking for a braking point. I made a mistake and ran off the track coming out of the first chicane. When I came back on I let the other drivers through to avoid being hit with a penalty. The early error meant that I tried not to push too hard and braked early throughout. The plan worked and I managed to move into top spot but then David Baldi came up behind me and it was a close thing until the chequered flag. I really wanted a win at Monza and my wish came true in the end.
I would like to thank the whole AF Corse team and Maserati. I hope to do just as well at Budapest”.
Olivier Doeblin (2nd in the Team category, 9th overall): "It seems that I am destined to always finish second seeing as I also placed there at Imola. Apart from the podium finish, the important thing is to continue improving my times, from free practice, qualifying and in races, in a car that is an evolution of the 2010 version. It was a 'wait and see' race run at a constant tempo and this allowed me to cross the finish line".
Marcel Pawlicek (3rd in the Team category, 12th overall): "It was a trouble-free start and I was careful to avoid getting into trouble at the start after the problems I had in qualifying and the accident that damaged my Maserati. I have to say a big thank you to the Maserati mechanics who worked hard to deliver me a car that I could compete in in total safety".
