Race 1 press conference - Team
"In the early stages I tried to climb through the pack, duelling with Baldi. This meant that I wore down the tyres a lot and so had to slow down. Towards the end of the race, thanks to the safety car coming on, I found myself right behind Pier Guidi and Bertolini: I overtook the Modenese driver at turn one but then he paid me back. It was a fine, high-tempo race from start to finish; I enjoyed myself”.
Olivier Doeblin (12th overall, 2nd Team): “From the very start, it was hard out there. I thought I had punctured and so came into the pits; in the end it was just a problem with the temperature of the tyres. I came back out and managed to get past Andreas Segler, who had spun in front of me after we clashed. I never imagined finishing on the podium in such a frenetic race”.
Franco Gallina (13th overall, 3rd Team):
“For me, even though I raced in a Maserati last year, this was a new car. I felt pretty comfortable in it from the off. I stayed out of trouble, settled into a rhythm and tried to get to know the brakes, which are spot on. I would like to thank Gaetano Ardagna who has given me a few tips over the past few days and, thanks to his advice, I improved by three seconds. I had a bit of luck even though I spun at Correntaio and clashed with Doeblin at the Bucine."
