David Baldi comes away from Valencia with a beaming smile and the sensation that the weekend has gone his way. The Tuscan leaves Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit having gained six championship points on Ardagna, his closest rival. Third-placed Nicolò Piancastelli made up just five points overall.
The young Romagna driver cruised to a Race 1 win and did his best to keep his title flame burning. In all honesty, Nicolò was probably going for a one-two. However, the 2011 Trofeo series is an evenly-balanced one and Valencia proved it once again.
Two meets - four races - from the end of the championship, things are still to be decided. Having said this, Baldi's win today puts him in a strong position. If things continue going his way, he will leave Mugello with an even bigger smile on his face.
