The Trofeo Europa belongs to Kuppens
Race 3 press conference
"The points I earned here gave me the European title, one I won last year. I am really pleased but there is still a long way to go. We are halfway through the season, there are still nine races left and anything can happen. The important thing now is to stay focused and keep doing what we are doing. The next round is at Sonoma, close to San Francisco, in the US, and it is a track I really like. Who is my most dangerous rival? Mikkel Mac, I think, but also Cola/Gobbo. I will have to keep an eye on Ragazzi and Simoni too. Let’s see how things turn out”.
Ange Barde (2° Overall, 1° Trofeo): “I think it would have been tough bettering second place today. I can’t not be pleased at the result. The heat in the car really tested us and, in endurance races like this one, everything is harder; even managing the tyres. I opted to play safe and settle for a spot on the podium”.
Alan Simoni (3° Overall, 2° Trofeo): “It was a good start and I managed to maintain my position. Calamia overtook me at the start but thanks to his retirement and Cola’s spin, I found myself in fourth. The battle with Cola was interesting and fun up until the compulsory stop when I handed over to Riccardo (Ragazzi, ed).
Riccardo Ragazzi (3° Overall, 2° Trofeo): "I started from fifth and went head to head with Gobbo. In the end I got the better of him and, thanks to their drive through, I found myself with no-one ahead or behind me. This weekend’s results have been positive and make up for the last round at Nurburgring. It is a great feeling being on the podium and we are confident going into Sonoma, a circuit where I came second last year”.
